Shaun the sheep is coming to Bristol
Bluefin Professions is delighted to announce it is a sponsor of ‘Shaun in the City’, a public art trail hitting the streets of Bristol and London in Spring 2015. Artists, celebrities and designers are helping to create 120 giant sculptures of Aardman’s internationally-acclaimed character Shaun the Sheep, which will be placed in iconic locations around the two cities before being auctioned to raise money for sick children in hospitals across the UK.
This exhibition follows the success of ‘Gromit Unleashed’ which featured 80 giant Gromit sculptures, designed by well-known artists, located in and around Bristol during summer 2013. As a founding sponsor of Gromit Unleashed Bluefin Professions hosted a fundraising event which saw over 100 people compete to visit as many Gromits as possible in four hours. Bluefin staff, insurers and partner firms joined the challenge to help raise over £6,000 for Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.
After the public exhibition had ended the Gromit sculptures were auctioned with the Bluefin Gromit fetching an astonishing £22,000 for the charity. Overall more than 1.2million people took part in the Gromit Unleashed trail and over £2.3million was raised for sick children and babies at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Speaking about the upcoming Shaun in the City exhibition Mark Westgarth, Managing Director of Bluefin Professions, said “Following the huge success of last year’s Gromit Unleashed trail and how much we enjoyed being part of arguably the biggest fundraising event to take place in Bristol ever, we just couldn’t turn down the opportunity to do it all over again. What’s more, we’ve seen first hand the wonderful work that goes on at Bristol Children’s Hospital and we are looking forward to doing our bit to help raise valuable funds for this very worthy cause”.
