Health, safety and welfare of employees

The Workplace Regulations Approved Code of Practice (L24) has been revised and published recently by the HSE to help employers understand and meet their legal obligations with regard to the health, safety and welfare of their workers.

The guidance will support the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 which apply to almost all work places, with the exception of those working on construction sites, in a ship or underground in mines. The guidance covers key issues such as temperature, cleanliness, workstations and seating, toilets and washing facilities. It is notable that employer’s legal responsibility to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees is not altered by any of the changes made to the approved code of practice.
